Ryan Pressman is an artist who lives and works in New York City. He received his BA in painting from Brandeis University in 2006 and his MFA in painting from Boston University in 2010. Upon finishing his graduate studies he moved to New York and maintains a studio in Brooklyn.
A documentation of his life, Pressman’s paintings are built on a diagrammatic description of the world through his eyes. Through his practice he has created a language based on both memory and invention. The images are drawn and redrawn, within the confines of this language, in order to most closely describe his experiences. While his paintings mirror the reality of the moment experienced and observed, they distort and create a reality of their own as well.
