Artist Mike Piergrossi lives and works in New York City. He completed his Bachelor of Fine Art degree at the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida in 1996. After three years in New York, Piergrossi started his graduate studies with New York University studying in Venice, Italy. He earned his Master of Art in Studio Art in 2001, and has continued to show his work regularly in exhibitions in the United States, Canada, and Europe. He has participated in the POOL Art Fairs in Miami Beach and in New York City.

Piergrossi appropriates different themes and styles from the history of painting to create a complex commentary on his surroundings. Embedded within the surfaces of his paintings are the by-products of his life. Old clothing, pictures drawn by friends, found images, and objects from his travels, are some of the elements that are the foundation of his work. He likes Robert Rauschenberg’s idea that the materials he used “were meant to be a record of an immediate environment and time.” The painted and collaged items in his paintings, both physically and metaphorically layer the ideas of family, leisure, taste, and art into the tale of his own existence.
